The daughter of a Roman Duke, Simonetta was the best known of Italian postwar fashion designers. An aristocrat, Simonetta had been interned by the Mussolini government for antifascist activities. Her international clientele included Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
